Atlantic Marquee.

Atlantic Marquee is part of Alberta Current: a board of what is on across Atlantic Canada — concerts, games, markets, storytimes, gallery openings, hall dances, public swims. Every city has its own page. This board holds all of them.

Every night the board reads the places events are already posted — ticket platforms, library systems, universities, towns, chambers, arenas, arts councils, newsletters — and adds what is new. One event appears once. Every listing links to where it came from and says when it was last checked. When a time is uncertain, the listing says so.

Listing is free, for every organizer, in every city. A Legion meat draw and an arena concert get the same card at the same size. The only thing for sale is a labelled sponsor spot beside the board, open to anyone.

Why we do this

“I believe what we are doing is for the good of everyone in our community. When we know what’s going on, then we can go out and participate. This promotes unity. In giving knowledge of what’s happening, we help to empower the people to take part by giving them facility in finding resonant spaces to connect.”

— Andrew Ludtke, founder

Find out what’s going on in Atlantic Canada. We do all the searching so you can plan your best day. No one would spend ages looking between multiple sites.

Robert Putnam called the connections among people social capital; knowing what is on is the first step to showing up, and a listing of a city’s gatherings is civic infrastructure.
